last week i had a 4.5 day weekend. this week, i've got a 3.5 day weekend.
somebody must have set oc up the bomb. but it certainly is for great justice!

"for 16 thrilling minutes, she showed the crowd...that she can mix with the world's best"

that's from the sunday times' report on how li li lost to china's world no.1 gong ruina. doesn't it sound just a little silly? yeah i know, i know, support our local athletes and all but everyone knows their just qualifying is already a miracle - really, the preliminaries are just a formality, in that everyone just knows they're gonna get knocked out there - with the exception of the sunday times reporters. stop trying to sugarcoat the fact that she lost! she did! get over it! what, are we supposed to celebrate because she got 1 minute over her allotted 15 minutes of fame?

well in that case...go li li! wooo!

didja guys see the lighting of the olympic flame?
apart from looking slight phallic, was i the only one hoping that the giant torch would set the torch-lighter on fire, too? see, the giant torch was just behind the greek sailor lighting it, so if the gas was under just a wee bit more pressure... ... human torch!

far more entertaining although i suppose that would've put a bit of a damper on the ceremony.
maybe one of the pantheon could've come back on stage and extinguished him - i'm sure the ancient greeks had a god of firefighting.

i felt kind of shortchanged upon realising the opening ceremony wasn't going to feature a massive gay orgy.

not that i particularly wanted to see a massive gay orgy, but there's something to be said for tradition.

well, maybe the closing ceremony, then.
and perhaps the god of fire-extinguishing will make an appearance there, too, to put out the flame.

i can't believe softball is an olympic sport.
what next, floorball? or maybe petanque!

there's just something wrong with goddamn xiaxue.blogspot.com ( i refuse to make that a link and send more traffic her way ) getting so much publicity. iirc, she was in the ST's national day special supplement; the A-Z of singapore or some such thing. then today she's on the back page of the sunday times.

doesn't anyone realise she's crap? that's she was voted best singapore blog only because of her shameless self publicity and her army of semi-illiterate fans whose idea of a good book is a harlequin romance? and the people who've not heard of her before check her blog out and go, "this is the best singapore blog?!!?!".
